Inasmuch 2024 Christmas Gift Guide
Inasmuch Community Society is an Abbotsford-based charity that serves Refugee Claimants. We are the only provider of transitional homes in the Fraser Valley where Refugee Claimants can be safe and receive physical, emotional, and community support. Established in 2016, we have housed nearly 200 residents and supported an additional 100 newcomers.

Welcome Basket
Provide a warm welcome! Each Refugee Claimant receives a welcome basket filled with toiletries, a hair brush, lip balm, Kleenex, lotion, hand sanitizer, a notebook and pen, an umbrella and Canadian treats.
Monthly Bus Pass
Provide autonomy through public transportation! Refugee Claimants arrive without vehicles, bikes, or money to pay for ride-share services. Bus passes help families get to the grocery store, appointments, school, and work.
Work Wear
Create sustainability through employment! When Refugee Claimants secure employment, they often require new work boots, appropriate clothing, and safety gear.
School Supplies
Help children feel like they belong! Refugee children have experienced trauma and loss. They have so many things to worry about - entering a new school system, language learning, understanding the culture, and making new friends.
Inasmuch Capacity Building Projects - Needed Now
Groceries
Fight food insecurity! Refugee Claimants have no government support when they arrive. They have often used the last of their resources to get to Canada. Inasmuch helps cover the cost of groceries so families are well nourished.
Starter Hampers
Help set up a home! Each Refugee Claimant family receives a starter hamper filled with essentials like laundry supplies, household detergents, cleaning supplies, a dish rack, garbage cans, paper products, and dish cloths. Save time and let us do the shopping!
Bedding
Provide a good night’s sleep! Although we outfit each home with donated appliances and furniture, we provide new blankets, pillows, and sheets, and occasionally purchase mattresses.
Warehouse
We are looking for a warehouse to store furniture. Each family arrives with their suitcases and leaves with a moving truck full of donated furnishings. We are growing and running out of space to store furniture donations. Would you donate or rent space to us?
Moving Truck
In 2024 alone we completed 35 moves! We also distribute 20,000 baskets of food each year to families facing food insecurity in Surrey, Langley, Abbotsford, and Chilliwack. Help us purchase a moving truck so we can save on rental fees and continue to provide excellent wrap-around service.
